Day Camp

Picture

Us in the Son is based on the qualities of the rainbow. Red is love, orange is courage, yellow is joy, green is growth, blue is peace, and purple is faith. Our campers are placed into color groups based on age -- purples are the youngest (Pre-K and K) and reds are the oldest (5th and 6th graders). Throughout your child's time at camp they will learn the importance of these qualities, engage in a variety of activities, make new friends, and understand the meaning of God's love. A week at camp includes plenty of crafts, singing, and games at the church campus, as well as a trip to the park and beach!

Frequently Asked Day Camp Questions

What are the times for Day Camp?
Day camp begins at 10am every morning and ends at 4pm. We offer daycare in the morning (before camp, beginning at 7am) and the afternoon (after camp - until 6pm) for an additional cost.
Does my child need to bring a lunch?
Yes. We do not provide lunches for campers. We recommend that your child pack a sack lunch or a small lunch box with their name written on it. On Wednesday we go to the beach and we ask that your child only bring a sack lunch that can be thrown away.
How are the groups separated?
Our camp is based on the colors of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple!
Purples are the youngest campers and reds are our oldest campers. Groups are separated by grade (Purple campers are USUALLY Pre-K and Kindergartners; Red campers are USUALLY 5th & 6th graders). We have two groups and counselors per color. While a child and his/her friend may be in the same grade, we cannot guarantee that they will be in the same small group, but they will most likely be in the same color! But don't worry, each color does the majority of activities together throughout the week!
What should my child wear each day?
We live in Southern California and it gets very hot! While we do have some inside activities throughout the week, the majority of our activities are outside. We ask that everyday (except beach day) your child wears closed-toed shoes. Here is a brief overview of what your child should wear each day:
Monday: Summer appropriate clothing & closed-toed shoes.
Tuesday: We walk to the park and it is usually very hot. Make sure they are dressed for the park with closed-toed shoes. When we get back to the park we have water play, so they should wear something that they don't mind getting wet!
Wednesday: Beach day! Children should arrive wearing their bathing suit and beach clothes. We ask that you also put sunscreen on them before they arrive. We do not suggest packing them clothes to change into after the beach because the bathrooms at the beach are very small and we go straight from the beach back to church.
Thursday: Dress-up day! We announce the dress-up theme at the end of camp on Wednesdays. We love seeing our campers dressed for the theme on Thursdays!
Friday: On Thursdays we pass out camp shirts! We want all of the campers to wear their camp shirts on Friday!
What is Friday Mass and what time is it at?
On Fridays we have our Children's Celebration Mass, we highly encourage and invite all parents, friends, and family to attend. All of our campers have a special part in preparing for and presenting during the Mass. Mass begins at 2pm. After Mass our counselors sing songs and we give the campers their final gift.
Will each session fill up?
Registration will be completed on a first-come, first-serve basis this summer. It is important to register as soon as possible if you’d like your camper to attend the sessions you’re interested in signing them up for.

When a session of camp becomes filled, we will create a waitlist for that week and contact people on the waitlist if spots become available.
